‘Herefordshire is heaven on Earth’

Not our words but those of John Lewis-Stempel. We think he may have a point. Straddling the Welsh border, Herefordshire is a county of small market towns, the cathedral city of Hereford, and the renowned book town of Hay-on-Wye. The picturesque villages of Lyonshall and Almeley make the perfect base from which to explore all that is on your doorstep.

On Your Doorstep

The Black & White Village Trail

Lyonshall itself is a picturesque village at the heart of the Black and White village trail, a unique journey through years gone by. Each village on the 40 mile circular trail has it’s own collection of these now rare but beautiful timbered dwellings.

  • Places to Visit

Herefordshire is spoilt with a rich history and splendid buildings and parkland, such as the impressive National Trust attractions of Berrington Hall (the final design of Capability Brown) and Croft Castle.

  • The Great Outdoors

You won’t need to travel far to breathe in the fresh air and wonderful space Herefordshire offers in abundance. Perhaps a walk on Hergest Ridge at nearby Kington or maybe take in the views at Hay Bluff.

  • Local Pubs

At the heart of our two wonderful villages can be found two unique village pubs, The Bells Inn in Almeley and The Royal George in Lyonshall, which is our exciting renovation project - we can’t wait to show you.
