Lyonshall

Lyonshall is a historic village, first mentioned in the Domesday Book 1086 and one of the largest parishes in Herefordshire with a largely agricultural economy. The Church of St Michael & All Angels sits alongside the ruins of the moated Lyonshall Castle. The nearby market town of Kington offers a range of amenities including, community hospital, library, leisure centre and doctors surgery. More extensive retail and cultural opportunities are available in the cathedral city of Hereford.

St Michael & All Angels

Situated on a commanding rise overlooking the village to the south, the Church of St Michael & All Angels sits alongside the ruins of the moated Lyonshall Castle.

The first church sited here was probably established to serve the castle, and it has been substantially rebuilt and extended since its earliest days of the 11th Century. The current building dates mostly from the 13th Century

The Baker’s Meadow Playground

The Baker’s Meadow Playground is on a triangular section of land, just behind Queen’s Mews in the centre of Lyonshall Village. The land was very generously donated to the village by Burgoynes of Lyonshall Limited, to mark their centenary in 2009.

Lyonshall in Bloom

In recent years Lyonshall has won silver gilt and gold medals in the regional Britain in Bloom competition, all the flower boxes continue to be updated and maintained.
